GERD-X Technique
What is the GERD-X Technique?
It is a non-surgical procedure performed via endoscopy to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and hiatal hernia.
The procedure is carried out through an oral endoscope, which is inserted until it reaches the lower esophageal sphincter (LES). The LES is then tightened using two non-surgical stitches to prevent acid reflux from the stomach into the esophagus.
The procedure takes approximately 15 to 30 minutes.
Who benefits the most from the GERD-X procedure?
- Individuals with chronic GERD, first or second degree.
- Individuals who can no longer tolerate severe heartburn symptoms, such as waking up during the night with intense chest burning.
- Individuals who no longer respond to antacid medications.
- Individuals with a hiatal hernia up to 3 cm.
The success rate of the procedure is very high, reaching up to 95% if performed by a highly skilled specialist.
The results of the procedure are permanent and not temporary like older procedures.
Post-procedure:
- Gradually progress from liquids to soft foods and then to solid foods according to the doctor's instructions.
- Avoid eating before bedtime.
- Avoid beverages containing caffeine.
- Consume non-acidic fruits.
